should be specified for every railway platform
Following the death of a visually impaired person on a railway platform it has become imperative that the most advanced tactile warning system should be installed at every station to prevent a reoccurrence.
Blister tactile profiles protrude from the surface to a height of 5.5mm and are detected underfoot by the visually impaired. Subjected to pedestrian traffic the blister profiles wear and once a height of 3mm is reached they become undetectable to the visually impaired posing a serious danger when used on platform edges.
For existing products it is impossible to determine when a tactile surface has worn below the threshold of 3mm.
